Lisa Beckwith, Principal

Lisa Beckwith is a founding principal of Value Capture, LLC. She provides on-site support and training for leaders, managers and staff to help them rapidly achieve safety, quality and financial goals through the application of systems principles. As a pharmacist, she has a particular expertise in helping partners perfect medication delivery. Ms. Beckwith previously served as pharmacy operations manager and pharmacist at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital, the flagship of the university health system. As a manager she was introduced to the principles of the Toyota Production System and served as a team leader for the pharmacy staff. She continued to help other health care workers to apply the principles of the Toyota Production system to their work through training and problem solving as a TPS team leader at the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative. Ms. Beckwith began her career as a pharmacist for Thrift Drug / Eckerd.

Janice Celedonia brings over 25 years of administrative and business leadership support to Value Capture LLC. She is responsible for all human resources/insurance benefits, bookkeeping/accounting, client correspondence and employee travel planning. Prior to joining Value Capture LLC, Ms. Celedonia was the Quality Control Administrator for The Ayco Company, a Goldman Sachs Company, where she was responsible for internal quality control audits, and implementation of quality control guidelines. She traveled extensively to the regional offices to ensure adherence to quality control standards and compliance procedures; she also developed and performed on-site training courses. Ms. Celedonia was also employed by Price Waterhouse as a Paraprofessional in the Public Utilities Services Group, and worked in the Pittsburgh, Tampa and Cleveland regional offices.


Leslie A. Corak, Principal

Leslie Corak is a founding principal of Value Capture, LLC. She provides on-site support and training for leaders, managers and staff to help them rapidly achieve safety, quality and financial goals through the application of systems principles. Ms. Corak has over 20 years of direct hospital clinical experience where her career responsibilities have included the coordination of the Infection Control, Employee Health and Quality Improvement programs. In her role as the Utilization Review Coordinator she was responsible for patient education and discharge planning. Immediately prior to joining Value Capture, Ms. Corak worked with The Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative (PRHI) as a Real-Time Safety Implementation Specialist, where utilizing the principles of the Toyota Production System she mentored and supported hospitals committed to the identification and elimination of unsafe conditions. One of Ms. Corak's partner hospitals reduced errors reaching a patient by more than 50% in a single year.

Christina Dixon is a principal of Value Capture, LLC. She provides on-site support and training for leaders, managers and staff to help them rapidly achieve safety, quality and financial goals through the application of systems principles. Prior to Joining Value Capture, Ms. Dixon was a co-founding partner of True North Institute, Inc., a company which supported organizations ranging from Giant Eagle Supermarkets to Pyramid Healthcare in using the ideas and principles of the Toyota Production System (TPS) to better meet the needs of their customers. While there, she collaborated with Alcoa and the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh to create a model for using TPS principles in the non-profit sector, and consulted with the Bedford Area School District to develop a similar model in education to improve student achievement. Ms. Dixon originally learned how to use systems change principles to improve patient care through work with the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative at UPMC Southside Hospital. While working at the Education, Policy and Issues Center, she led initiatives to increase student achievement in Southwestern Pennsylvania based on this approach. Earlier in her career, Ms. Dixon served as Executive Director of Summerbridge Pittsburgh, an educational program which prepares disadvantaged middle school students for college success, and as National Service Director for Summerbridge National, where she consulted with local Summerbridge sites to improve the quality of their programs.

Paul O'Neill is a founder of Value Capture, LLC, where he provides counsel and support to health care executives and policymakers who share his conviction that the value of health care operations can be increased by 50% or more through the pursuit of perfect safety and clinical outcomes. He was the 72nd Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, serving from 2001 to 2002. During his 21 month tenure, the lost workday rate among Treasury employees fell by more than 50%. He was the chairman and CEO of Alcoa from 1987 to 1999 and retired as chairman at the end of 2000. Mr. O'Neill led Alcoa to become the safest workplace in the world, while increasing its market capitalization by more than 800%. Today, Alcoa operates across more than 40 countries at a lost workday rate that is 20 times lower than the average rate for American hospitals. Prior to joining Alcoa, Mr. O'Neill was president of International Paper Company from 1987 to 1985 and was vice president from 1977 to 1985. He served as the deputy director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget from 1974 to 1977, where he served on staff beginning in 1967. He worked as a computer systems analyst with the U.S. Veterans Administration from 1961 to 1966. During his government service, Mr. O'Neill helped to shape many of the policies which define the American health care system today. He serves as a board member at the National Quality Forum, RAND, and more than a dozen other major corporations and non-profit organizations.

Paul H. O'Neill, Jr. is a co-founding principal of Value Capture, LLC. In his leadership capacity, Mr. O'Neill oversees all of Value Capture's partnership engagements, ensuring that knowledge transfer and skill development occur as rapidly as possible. Mr. O'Neill regularly participates in hospital work assignments with partner executives and staff to ensure that Value Capture is focused effectively on aiding achievements "on the ground." Prior to returning to Pittsburgh, in July of 2003, Mr. O'Neill held the position of Vice President of Counseling at The Ayco Company, a Goldman Sachs Company. Mr. O'Neill began his tenure at the Ayco Company's Irvine California office in 1993 after having served as an associate attorney at Buchanan Ingersoll from 1990-1993.


Ken Segel, Principal

Ken Segel is a co-founding principal of Value Capture. In this role he provides support to CEOs of health care organizations dedicated to eliminating injuries as a means to dramatically raise the clinical and financial performance of the entire institution. Prior to forming Value Capture, Mr. Segel served as the founding director of the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative (PRHI). PRHI achieved best-in-nation regional results in the elimination of several classes of risk for patients. Before helping to create PRHI, Mr. Segel served for five years as senior program officer at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation of Pittsburgh, where he guided many community health improvement initiatives and initiated the Foundation's formal public policy program. Earlier in his career, Mr. Segel served as an aide to the leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives, directed the overnight operations in the 1992 Clinton-Gore presidential campaign "War Room," and served as Policy Director and speechwriter for the Democratic Party. He also taught political organizing and election monitoring in Ukraine and Russia.

Mr. Webster is a co-founding principal of Value Capture. In this role he provides support to CEOs of health care organizations dedicated to perfecting worker and patient safety and unleashing the full potential of employees by empowering them to design value-added meaningful work. Prior to forming Value Capture, Mr. Webster was a co-founder and Director of the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative (PRHI). He helped conceptualize, develop and lead this regional performance-based health reform initiative, achieving best-in-nation regional results in the elimination of several classes of risk for patients. A former health care consultant in New Jersey and at the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Mr. Webster also served as Executive Director of the Consumer Health Coalition from 2000-2004, where he led the promotion of health policy and system changes that improved the health and health care of children, seniors, people with disabilities, and people who have difficulty accessing health care services. He was also Director of Policy at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation from 1996-2000, supporting statewide advancements in children's health insurance and managed care policy and helping to spawn the PRHI.
