David Palmer

David Palmer is an Associate Advisor with Value Capture and a dedicated healthcare professional. He began his career in supply chain and central distribution, gaining a deep appreciation for the unseen systems that keep care moving. He later spent several years in the Neonatal ICU, supporting the most fragile patients and even creating a graduation ceremony to honor long-term survivors and their families. From there, he joined a dedicated operational excellence department, improving systems to deliver maximum value to patients. These experiences gave David a profound respect for frontline caregivers and a firsthand understanding of the realities they face each day. 

While serving at UC Davis Health, David was introduced to the Shingo Guiding Principles, which immediately resonated with him: lead with humility, respect every individual, embrace scientific thinking, and create constancy of purpose. That final principle sparked something more profound: it helped David clarify his own sense of purpose. Shingo in healthcare was not just a philosophy to him; it became a calling. When an unexpected layoff occurred just months later, David chose to lean into that purpose, pursuing an MBA at Utah State University with the Shingo Institute, which he completed on an accelerated timeline. 

Today, David carries forward that journey at Value Capture with a deep commitment to shaping the future of healthcare. His purpose is clear: to empower frontline teams, foster a culture of continuous learning, and help design systems that drive ideal behavior. Looking ahead, he is passionate about having the opportunity to work with Value Capture and apply the Shingo principles in healthcare systems and partnering with caregivers and leaders to ensure that every patient receives the best possible care.
